+1. Spending a day driving around and generally away from his family is not normal. It's weird, actually.
As another poster stated above, it's just his way of escaping his reality.

Sounds like OP's DH is already checked out. I don't necessarily think he's fooling around - rather, just away keeping busy before he has to come back and see DW and her child. For whatever reason, he's pretty much done, it seems.
OP, don't let the 2nd marriage issues lynch mob make you feel bad. Some folks, for whatever reason, pick incorrectly. Some get really lucky, some don't. Life.

Your son doesn't have sports and tutoring EVERY weekend. 52 Saturdays per year? Does your son spend time with his dad? What happens then.
On the weekends off do you go out and about with your husband? Surely there is middle ground here. You should be able to join him some of the time, and he can reschedule for Sunday some of the time.
