If you're going to begin your post with an arrogant and condescending comment about "parents needing to try to understand the game", I think it's fair to ask you about your credentials...no? Anyhow, if you know the game, then you should understand that it is possible to be simply outclassed. Creativity doesn't mean a damn thing if your opponent has better athletes, with better technical skills who are tactically very well-organized and disciplined. PDA's 05 team might as well be a NJ all-star team. There are other good clubs in NJ but PDA has a huge presence throughout the state and some of their teams are absolutely loaded.

That’s not condescending in the slightest. It’s a fact. Ask the coaches, trainers etc. Parents equate paying for their kids, coming to games, watching some Premier League as knowing the game.

But I’ll bite on the idea of bigger athletes etc. If you think that’s what is going g to carry the day then the game is done and we should pack up. Because the rest of the world has caught up. Check out the U17 World Cup last year online.

Next up let’s look at the tactics and organization of the other players. Well then FCV lack both and their just a big fish in a small pond who wasn’t as big as they thought. Hence the two Papas sounding off. I’m not saying that’s the case but everything a team has it does the other team doesn’t. And if it’s just “one of those days” I’d say they had two of those days and lacked the understanding of what was being done to them. So back to square one.

It’s either about the kids or it’s about the parents. This forum (and the sidelines) has shown which it really is. Nighty night.

That would depend on the kids. The parents understanding of what is development for their child. What environment is best for their child. Losing 7-0 is a learning experience. But thinking that it matters what other clubs in the area are or aren’t doing in regards to wins has nothing to do with those kids growth.

What’s is being worked on now should be for u16/u17. Putting such an emphasis on winning leads to the situation this weekend. This is going to be an extremely interesting spring. We all will see who has grown/developed. Maybe we can all meet back here and BS some more about some 07 player or which U14 team won more games while losing to good teams from other parts of the county. The sooner parents realize what their kid needs in regards to the game instead of how many wins the sooner our area will develop better players.

By all means though, players should look at Loudoun ECNL, BRYC ECNL, Arlington DA, and McLean ECNL as well, depending on the logistics each family is willing to settle for.

We left FCV and I can tell you I haven't 'settled' for anything. I'm not raising a soccer player, I'm raising a woman - someone who is kind, strong and has self-respect. A fight at a soccer game is not my crowd.
