The date of the game was right - December 23, 1972. Now, a carnival in December is unlikely. But if there was one on that date, you can be sure it rained in Pittsburgh. It always rains in Pittsburgh in December - snow storms don't usually roll around until January/February.

Snowed in Pgh the week of my Nov birthday every year I loved there. Sometimes just flurries, but there was snow.

I think the "her" is going to be Rebecca and perhaps she has alzheimers or dementia. TIU likes to roll in lots of current day issues like the opioid addiction and infertility. Lots of seniors are dealing with dementia and a story line like that would allow the producers to have Rebecca cycling in and out of memories with Jack and different parts of her life.

I do think that Madison might be a surrogate for Kate and Toby -- which would be the ultimate irony b/c Madison thinks she's fat -- and if she gets pregnant for them, she will actually, factually, be "fat" (in the sense of pregnant-big).
