We've had children in APS, Vienna and McLean. They are ALL shit shows. It's just that each persons bias skews their perception that they are somehow different.

Negative Haycock posts on DCUM come largely from parents still bitter they got moved to Lemon Road a few years ago. Meanwhile the Haycock area continues to attract families for the schools and location.
NP. It's true that Haycock used to attracts families that were willing to sacrifice everything to live in the boundary. Maybe back 10-15 years ago. Families would shoehorn into those tiny crackerjackbox houses and townhouses to go to Haycock. Back then AAP was not offered at most local schools. But now LLIV is spread out because more people live & work throughout Fairfax Co. The schools in Oakton & Chantilly send more kids to TJ than Haycock boundary. Negative Haycock comments might instead be due to the expectations gap.
Agree. The negative posts are from the Haycock parents (some teachers) whining and bitching.

This hasn't been my experience at all (but I'm not sure what you mean by "integrate"), though I have had no reason to engage the principal. While she isn't very "warm," she isn't awful. I attribute her demeanor to being... a middle school principal in charge of kids with raging hormones. I have had pretty good communication with teachers regarding specific issues, but I do encourage my children to deal with school-related problems on their own. As for Langley, I (again) don't engage much because my child seems to know what's going on, but I've spoken with the counselors about certain issues and they've all been very helpful.

Also, did it occur to you that you are part of the problem? All the renters moving into the good HS districts just in time for their kids to go to high school, thus crowding the local high school, and then moving on right after graduation?

The point was not that renters aren't allowed. The point was that renters, some of whom move in to neighborhoods with great high schools just in time for their kids to go there and then move away, contributing little to the neighborhood, should not be so quick to come on DCUM and bitch and moan about the school.
Tell me, how exactly do you know what each and every renter contributes to what neighborhood?
