I think the abuse by her brother is 100% true. Look at Josh Duggar. These fundy boys take their suppressed energy out on their sisters.

I don’t believe ALL of the injury stories.

I do think her family shunned her for getting an education, which is wrong, obviously.

I found many inconsistencies too, the book has been way overhyped.

Agree. She is a pretty blond. She had brains and the resources to get into college.

I am sort of split 75/25 on how much I believe. I think it believe her story 75% and the other part really thinks that she made a lot of up.

I do think that Shawn abused her, and her mom and dad are responsible, though.

I don’t think her parents should have shunned her for going to college.

Yes, the mother is invested in the father's version of reality, not her daughter's. That is shown in the book and in other comments elsewhere online.

There was a response letter from the parents' lawyer saying that the book is all lies, that Tara is crazy. The attorney generously states that, although the book is libelous, he has been instructed by the parents not to sue.

I guess the story would have been more “WOW” if her parents and brother were not geniuses. But she had the genetics to be a brainiac and her family let her go and helped her. They disapproved and were abusive, but they didn’t physically force her to stay or keep her locked up.

Still think that the glass castle is a more unbelievable story.
