Subject: Just curious about something as we enter our 40's...
My husband has not lost any sex drive. He’s 58. However, he is just now having troubles having an orgasm. That never was a problem before. He does have some health issues.
51 year old wife. No loss on my part either, although exhaustion from lack of sleep (perimenopause) puts a damper on it. But it’s not a physiological reduction yet.

My libido has never been as high as my DH's but I do my very best to make sure that we both really enjoy our 1-2x per week meet ups. I'm usually the one who has ideas for new positions and I love taking charge. I'm 52 and I don't think my libido has changed at all except in terms of imagination.

My wife had close to zero libido in her 30s, although we had young kids, lack of sleep, etc. My drive in my 30s was just as strong as when I was a teenager. The libido gap was hell on our marriage, I cheated, fortunately never caught.
Now early 40s, my drive dropped, perhaps an 8/10. Wife's is up, perhaps a 4/10. So we are closer. We now have sex 1-2x a week and she is definitely more into it. The libido gap is totally manageable. I can't imagine her drive ever being higher than mine but would love to know what it's like to have a wife who craves daily sex.

Sort of true. Wife's drive does escalate before menopause kicks in but its usually not directed to her husband. Ask any divroced woman. They stop sleeping with DH and go CRAZY in their early 40s sleeping around.
I suspect this happens a lot more than we (husbands) think it does.

I could see this definitely happening- especially as women start to enter greater leadership positions around the same age...

hmm.from about 30-36 I wanted/needed sex all the time, multiple times a day would have been great and it was something constantly on my mind. 10 years on and it takes me a while to get excited and am ok with 1x/week. Difference is hormonal but also--I now have kids and I have never been as matched sexually with current partner as I was with previous ones. So I think its a combo. Perhaps women with libidos rising in the 40s had kids younger and retrieved their lost libido once kids older??

I’m not sure if it was my age or getting divorced. But it started to ramp up at 35. I’m horny every morning. Remarried two years ago. DH is 5.5 years older. He can keep up with me, but isn’t a fan of mornings.

I'm 61 and mine has never really changed as I've always had a moderate libido of about twice a week. What has changed is the type of sex and now I'm far more adventuresome.
