And if you leave their team shame emails to parents and onfield retribution to a player are not unheard of - which was more recent that 5 years ago. Good Luck
That credentials thing happened to a lot of teams this past year. The coaches just stood behind the fence and coached from the first row of the bleachers. It was not a big deal, so don't get too down on your coaches/team for that.

So you wre basically shunning your job as a parent because you son thonks the article is old? That was and is not an outlier. The guy is a maniac and threatens everyone, including his own clients. It's great that you are supporting your son's desire to play club lax.
But there are much better options thst will not be embarrassed yo have your son play for,, especially if he is a modest player. You really want to show your son that giving that guy your money is the right thing to do?

As far as Capital(A) v DMV (B), most likely if you question which team it is for you will be told he is being considered or maybe even is on A but that is likely not 100% accurate. He may have to just dive in and see what happens and try to work his way on the A team.

Some things to know beyond the deadspin article which aside from the owner being a total jerk, would only apply if your son played on whatever team Maddux is coaching:
There is a huge fee charged quarterly that other clubs don't charge.
Lots of kids blow off practices and just show up for the games. However, the coaches for A and B teams can be quite good/excellent and your son will learn the most if he does go to practices. Also he may practice with the A team/upper grades which is great too.
Money talks there along with being vocal as a parent to get pushed up to the A level unless your kid is absolutely stellar. They play to win but there is definitely some behind the scenes pushing from parents that can win out.
Food for thought: we and more importantly our DS prefer he play on a team where he can get the most playing time, not on the A team as a bench warmer.

Have never had a child in the program so I can't be too helpful.
But, one thing you should know or clarify is whether your son was offered a spot on the "Capital" team or the "DMV" team. The Capital team is their highest level for the age group and the DMV team is essentially their "B" team.
This distinction may or may not make a difference for you or your son.

It's weird. The session we attended was sparsely attended, but i assumed that was unusual. They have been saying they will post rosters by 7/27, but nothing for nearly a month.
Seems like their revolutionary early tryout was kind of a dud.

Yes, but some inevitably decide to go elsewhere - depending on what year of HS.

How did tryouts for the girls teams go? I know the first one was Saturday but we couldn’t attend due to vacation.
