Beware and be informed. It might be a opportunity for your kid to get more reps to get better. Just be understand it sometimes takes time and effort to find the right travel lax team that meets your player's and his family's needs. The owner does manage a MS team with kids that share the same name and yes, he's a bit of a yeller from what I've heard from Madlax parent on that team - some kids can't/don't operate well under those conditions. Depending on the team, you could have a different coach every week under the guise of giving all the coaches a look at your kid... among 20 other kids on the field - do you think they really remember Joey or Billy on team 20XX? Some teams aren't managed well like delaying game started last year because coaches didn't have their spring league game credentials. On a MS DMV team i saw a kid that had still had bad stick mechanics and poor lax IQ at the end of the spring season but you can rest assured his parents bought him every Madlax decal and gear to wear. And if you leave their team shame emails to parents and onfield retribution to a player are not unheard of - which was more recent that 5 years ago. Good Luck

And we have already read the deadspin article and showed our son and discussed it with him. He believes it to be old and wants to give it a try. He liked the tryout coaches and doesn’t think he will get recruited. I think he is simply excited about the prospect of playing travel.

Anonymous wrote:So my kid was just offered a spot on a madlax team. We know nothing about this - quite honestly my son begged to go and really initiated trying out. I figured they wouldn’t have any more middle school spots but it seems they did. So they practice in McLean? Any feedback would be great.

We are hoping a lot of returning players show up at the other tryout, but we are nervous.
Don't all the returning players automatically make the fall team and attended the July tryout just get reps and have enough kids to run a tryout for prospective players?
