No it's not. Come by that part of Glebe Road at 8:30am and you'll see traffic backed up past Chesterbrook Rd, waiting to either cross Chain Bridge to DC or get to the GW Parkway north to the Beltway.

Buses don't have to go that far up Glebe to get to Jamestown, they can get off at Albemarle right past the Williamsburg intersection. Or if that's issue, they can cut over to Williamsburg via Old Dominion. There are actually a lot of access points from higher capacity roadways up there, more than I realized until I looked at the map again just now. It's a great site to handle heavy bus traffic.

I drive past there on my way to work and many days, traffic at the Chain Bridge is backed up all the way to Albemarle (Jamestown turn off). Albemarle is so backed up (major shortcut from McLean), that you cannot easily turn into the school. If you add buses plus all the parents driving their kids, it will be a big problem. At ATS, 40% of parents indicate they primarily drive their kids to school.

Jamestown isn't near metro, but it's about a block off of Glebe Road, so a straight shot up a major Arlington artery. Work with ART to make sure there's a bus route or two, and it's accessible.

What is also cut out of this picture is in the Nottingham western boundary, where four planning units sit behind Tuckahoe. I'm not good at pasting pics, but maybe someone else can do it below.

All of these wacky boundaries resulted from the fact that Jamestown, Discovery, and Nottingham are so close together. That's also why all the preschool kids ended up in Jamestown. They built Discovery to solve what was essentially a Tuckahoe, Nottingham, McKinley, Glebe enrollment problem. It never made sense to open a school as far north as Discovery, but Chadwick preferred his blank slate to messing around with an existing building on the Reed site. Also, the Children's School & Integration Station parents who used Reed had a lot of influence over former board members like Emma Sanchez. Too late to fix, but new families should understand how we got here.

It looks like a drunk puzzlemaker created the Mckinley and Ashlawn boundaries.

The Mckinley boundaries are all out of whack because of the school of the size and the unfortunate boundary decision. Luckily, it should be resolved when Reed opens.
