I'm not White's lawyer, but I do want to set the record straight. He gave the NOI donation back in January. It was just reported now because it was included in a quarterly financial report. Back in January he still hadn't yet been enlightened about anti-Semitism. Admittedly, his enlightenment is still imperfect since he is still defending the NOI donation with the small caveat that he doesn't agree with Farrakhan about everything (without explicitly citing the areas of disagreement).

Would it make sense to you for White to leave the tour and go stand outside for any length of time? If he was going to leave, he would have been in his car and filming selfies as he drove back to Ward 8 by then. He probably had only been outside long enough to light a cigarette.

I don't believe everything a politician says, but I've also lived in DC long enough to see how press coverage can often be unfair and misleading.

Actually, I support this tweet. The second half does scold him, and basically says what White has done so far isn't good enough. Todd says to give him another chance. OK, that's fine, but he needs to do something to demonstrate that he actually gets it, gets why anti-semitism, even unintended anti-semitism, even anti-semitism that has nothing to do with the community to work for, is a big damn deal. So far he has not. I think Todd's tweet acknowledges that.

I have posted here that I think White should resign and I have emailed both Brandon Todd and Chairman Mendelson asking them to take action against White. What more do you want me to say?

1) because he didn't know the Rothschilds are Jewish, he didn't mean his remarks about them to be anti-Semitic;

2) he says he didn't leave the Holocaust Museum in mid-tour, but only continued the visit on his own rather than being scrutinized by a reporter (and considering the subsequent article, that was probably a wise decision);

3) his support for the Nation of Islam has nothing to do with Farrakhan's position regarding Jews but rather reflects the NOI's work in Ward 8 which includes providing meals, security, and other social services.

With that in mind, I would say that his anti-Semitism is probably not as clear-cut as you suggest. I would describe it more as a lack of sensitivity toward anti-Semitism, and an unacceptable lack of sensitivity at that. I still think he should resign.

If a white Council member donated to the coffers of David Duke, would the other council members recommend we show him patience and understanding? What if he had also walked out of an exhibit on the horrors of slavery, demonstrating indifference, and also put forward some ridiculous racist conspiracy theory? Enough is enough.

Wrong, I was one of the first posters here to say that White should resign. Yesterday, I was simply stating facts. As I said then, White should be criticized on the facts, not on exaggerations or falsehoods. Even ignorant conspiracy theorists deserve fair treatment.
