"Classic beauty" in the western sense means women who have that specific look that is most common among white women.

As I said previously, other cultures have their own standards of a "classically beautiful face."

You can't judge Indian, Asian or African bone structure by white beauty standards.

I don't know what thread you are reading but other PPs and I have named:

Iman
Aishwarya Rai
Halle Barry
Lupita Nyong'o
Kerry Washington
Gal Gadot

I think I even cited Nefertiti.

None of whom are the white beauty standard.

All of whom are classic beauties.

Apart from Lupita, I am reading the same thread as you. Plus what is Gal Gadot doing on your list of African or partially African women? She is as white as it gets. Halle Berry has extremely white features, you are clearly clueless about African, Asian and other ethnicity and their beauty standards, classical or just cute. Aishwara Rai? Really? You found the whitest feature looking Indian woman to prove your point? Nefertiti, historians and archaeologists speculate was of North East African heritage, which has facial features similar to white ethnicity. Look up Ethiopian women.

so your problem is not that women listed are white but that they have "white features"? first of all features are not necessarily white (more women in Ethiopia have high cheek bones than in any white country), they just happen to be what everyone everywhere likes. imam is gorgeous not only by white standards but also by "black"' and "Asian" standards. you can stamp your feet all day long but you wil never make fat ass Serena Williams or some such "a classical beauty".

actually you can, and there are many examples who fit into those standards. in fact those tend to be the very women who are considered exceptionally beautiful in their own cultures.

What? So women from Africa who have white beauty features are also the most beautiful in their own country and considered so by their own people? Surely you mean, models who are found by WHITE agencies for being models?

Well, you are racist and blind.

This Chinese model Du Juan is an Asian example that falls into the category of classic beauty.

When I hear "classic beauty", I think Hitchcock blonde. Regular, symmetrical features, beauty rather than sex appeal. Grace Kelly, Naomi Watts, Kate Blanchette, Kiira Korpi (google her).

Symmetry will be a key rule for all of them though.

Halle is gorgeous and hits almost every category of beauty: girl next door, exotic, classic, natural... she is amazingly beautiful. Her facial features are not exclusively white. She looks distinctly black, but quite frankly lookalike a little bit of everyone.

I posted very early on this thread that Iman is a classic beauty. She has the same characteristics: fine bone structure, long graceful neck, large eyes, symmetrical features, demure vs sultry, etc that define a classical beauty. Lolita N'yogo is another actress that completely has all the characteristics of a classical beauty.

Elle McPherson and Heidi Klum are gorgeous and as white as wonder bread, but they do not have the characteristics of a classic beauty. They are more girl next door, wholesome, milk/corn fed beauties. Still gorgeous, but too shapely and athletic or cute looking to be a classic beauty.

Anonymous wrote:I think Amal Clooney is the best representation of a modern-day classic beauty.

Her make-up is complementary and understated. She isn't trendy or trying to look younger than she is. She also has class, compassion and carries herself with integrity. It's no all about how you look.

Amal is very elegant but definitely not beautiful.

I prefer dark haired women with more olive-toned skin.

But, great bone structure, high cheekbones is a necessity.

Oh, I wanted to add the term 'classic beauty' is very different than 'natural beauty'.

Classic is an old term used for the old school movie actresses like Grace.

Natural is much different. I think of women that need very little make-up and have glowing skin, dark eyelashes...can roll out of bed and look fantastic.

Yes!

Classic beauty does not mean the .let beautiful or the most naturally beautiful.

It is a specific kind of beauty.

Assuming of course that most people who use this term think exclusively of white women as classic beauties. I would put Iman or Rita Hayworth in this category as well and among modern women, Aishwarya Rai.

Angelina Jolie looks like a porn star, not a classic beauty.

She’s skinny as hell which isn’t classically beautiful.

You are wrong to think that no one of another race is a ‘classic beauty’ .

Serena Williams. Queen Rania of Jordan. Michelle Kwan. Vanessa Williams. The list is endless.
You are prejudiced.

You misunderstand me. I said that Rita Hayworth, Iman and Aishwarya Rai are classic beauties but the assumption on DCUM tends to be that only white women can be called that. In fact, the premise of the thread is about a basic white woman, Kate Middleton being called a classic beauty, which is preposterous because she is basic, but not because she is white. OP seemed to imply that whiteness was part of it.

+1
it's the shape of the face (bone structure) + proportions of the facial features + plus general stature, elegance. it has nothing to do with color of the skin or hair.

Exactly!

That is why Halle Berry tops the list.

It is funny, I googled classic beauty and three of the first few pictures that came up were Grace Kelly. Audrey Hepburn and Halle Berry.

So even "the internets" agree with those three.

I put Sharon Stone in that category too. Look at photos from her early acting days---that bone structure is killer.
