And, for those of you who think people from other parts of the country should move to the coast for those wonderful job opportunities and “competitive peers,” are you ready for skyrocketing cost of living? How about even more congested traffic? How about increased day care costs because of demand?
Some people move AWAY from the coasts exactly for these reasons.
There are professional jobs in flyover country, of course, but not much depth in their economies, so job hopping is nearly impossible, wage growth is terrible. Locals are so provincial. Sure there are some sophisticated doctors, lawyers and execs ... but again, not much depth. Most folks are dull and slow and myopic.

It is not like you can snap your fingers and create a new life on the east coast when 4 generations have been coal miners in WV.
As you watch dead broke often illiterate people flee conflict in the Mid East, Central America, etc. how can you say this with a straight face? How did Americans populate the west? They got off their freakin’ asses and fearlessly moved to better their families.
Ok. Well, good luck with that. This is why DJT won. Please stop because you make things worse. We ended up with an idiot for President. You do not understand flyover country. Have you ever been there?
Np Djt won what? Like seriously , take your own advice and stop because I can assure you a full four years of the bloated carrot and the already declining midwestern population will be further diminished. So again this is why Djt won what ? You're not as clever as you seem to delude yourself into thinking
The presidency, you dolt.
Thanks captain obvious , we're waiting for flyover to become as prosperous as Switzerland . In the meantime here's a lesson for you , nobody knows you like your own , the bloated carrot garnered something like 6% of the votes in NYC because unlike you flyover denizens who seem to have been euphoric that finally a 'yankee' didn't look down on you .we, his longtime neighbors and fellow NYC knew he's never succeeded at anything in his life and the presidency will just be another failure added to his already bloated portfolio of failures . You think people look down on flyover country now ,just wait .

Well you can live where you prefer but don’t bitch about not having a good paying job! Again DC isn’t my first choice for living but I have plenty of job opportunities that enable me to feed my kids. Everyone needs to choose what they will sacrifice.
Of course there are plenty of job opportunities in DC. That's where everyone sends their tax dollars to be pissed away, although they don't get much back! It is the teat of the country.
That’s true. DC is the real “taker” in this country.

Yes, I much prefer living in New Hampshire or Vermont (or even MA) where most people look and talk just like me. Diversity just isn't my thing.
Let's add CT to that non-diverse but oh so liberal minded state where 'engrained prejudice' is not an issue..

I don't know anyone doing well in DC who visited flyover country for the holidays and genuinely said to themselves "Man, I miss this place so much. Wish we could move back!" Not a soul.
Guess you visited some sucky parts, then. I was in a north shore Chicago suburb and I’m like, wow, let me stay here.
