Yes, one must practice noblesse oblige!

You must be a savior to the oppressed, sacrifice your children's well being, so that the fortunes of the oppressed arise.
It's not immoral to live in Bethesda but it's probably immoral to be so callous and sarcastic. We all live in the same society. If you say "let them eat cake" too many times then eventually someone comes for you for the guillotine. Just to continue your cute French metaphors.

Personally I think this is true. I don’t want my kids going to school with a lot of poor kids. That’s not nice to say but it’s the truth. Poor families don’t have the time or the resources, or often the inclination, to invest effort into their kids’ education. So that means little Johnnie starts school not even knowing his letters and yes, too many kids like him and it’s going to detract from my daughter who started school already reading simple books.
I’m totally fine with her being the minority in a class of brown kids who started school already reading. Their color is not my issue.

Why has no one responded to this assertion?
For UMC people, it's not racism that is the problem, it is poverty. I don't care what color you are if you're teaching your kids to read and write and do basic math at 4. If you're not doing those things, yeah I'm going to have a problem with you.

I am a moderate republican and I actually kind of agree with her points
If you call yourself a liberal/progressive and don't go to your neighborhood school, or go private or charter instead. You are a hypocrite
It's why I'm not a liberal. At the end of the day you send your kid to the best school.... anyone who doesn't is kidding themselves
One could just as easily say, if you call yourself a Christian and you don't give all of your money to the poor, you are a hypocrite.

That's not what the article says at all. It says white people in white neighborhoods are for neighborhood schools. White people in diverse neighborhoods are for school choice. You don't get to pat yourself on the back for picking a neighborhood school.
