Yup, we pay $20/head to attend our DOJ office's holiday party. That part is a downer, but I like my colleagues and my office, and it's nice to celebrate together.

I’m Jewish and have seasonal wreaths up year-round. Right now I have a gorgeous custom-made faux greenery wreath with blue, silver, and gold tones. It doesn’t overtly “say” anything but winter. You guys are thinking way too much about this.

I'm a Jewish atheist and I hang a wreath because I think it looks nice.

If you feel this way, chances are that others do as well.

I don’t know why workplaces even go there. When you start inclduing these details like wreath making events, chances are you are probably alienating people. It’s so unecessary and frankly not inclusive. I say that as someone who wouldn’t mind it for myself, but mind it because of others who may not feel like I do.

Just keep it simple - have a holiday celebration and celebrate the end of the year.

Well some do, according to this thread, but no one I know. In fact I have some new neighbors I thought might be Jewish but when they put up a wreath and Christmas lights I changed my mind. But maybe I should reconsider! I haven't actually scoped out whether they have a mezuzah.

So Jewish people don't do wreaths at all, any time of year, in the DC area? Very different from other places I have lived.

Likewise. Jew here and even my Jewish family and friends who married Christians don't put up wreaths. (They are all raising the kids Jewish.)

It does sound like a beautiful wreath though! I am all for people decorating however they want. But it still doesn't erase the association, just like if a Christian put up a menorah, it would still be a Hanukkah symbol.

Hmmm you may be talking about my office. Only one person had a religious theme to their wreath last year, and that too is within their right. I don’t even think of wreaths as religious, and I’m Christian.
