Thanks. This is making me start to think that a civics test should be a requirement for voting.
But you probably feel an ID should not be a requirement for voting. Right?![]()
Dp and I wouldn’t care if a voter ID was required IF our state government ensured everyone could easily have access to one. Have employees of the state board of elections or the secretary of state’s office set up tables at grocery stores, gas stations, churches, and other places where people actually congregate. If you can prove your income is below a certain threshold or you receive certain government services or are a student or over 65, it should be free, otherwise no more than $10-$15. And if you don’t have a birth certificate, someone affiliated with the state would help you get the documentation you need to prove your identity. That’s the only way to make it fair - not the current system of go to the DMV when it’s open during regular business hours when lower income workers are likely to be, well, working, without the benefit of paid leave, and if you don’t have a birth certificate (often applying to poor and elderly African Americans ...) you’re basically screwed.
Of course, this endeavor would be quite pricey. But I’m sure it’s worth it to prevent the .000001% of “voter fraud” that exists right???
Yeah, right? I would love for the voter ID people to tell me how easy it is to get an ID when I can only think of one DMV in NOVA that's even maybe within a five minute walking distance of a Metro. If people want to get to these locations without cars it costs time and money. Hello voter suppression.
Lots of things cost time and money. Sometimes in life adults need to spend token amounts of time and money for very important things like voting for elected leaders who affect the lives of everyone living in a community. I will never understand the “no IDs to vote!” people.

There are a lot of anti-tax people in this area and the new tax plan is freaking people out. So Gillespie for the win.
Another reason to NOT vote for democrat ralph northam.
A national progressive organization accused Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, of playing “directly into the hands of Republicans’ racist anti-immigrant rhetoric” and announced it would no longer work to directly aid his campaign. Democracy for America, a political action committee with 1 million members, said they took issue with Northam’s decision to “openly backtrack” on sanctuary cities, which decline to enforce federal immigration laws.
Northam’s opponent, Ed Gillespie, has been hammering Northam in ads for casting a tie-breaking vote against legislation to pre-emptively ban sanctuary cities, which Virginia doesn’t have. This week, Northam said he would sign legislation banning them if a city were to declare itself a sanctuary city. He has previously said he opposes sanctuary cities, though he doesn’t support a pre-emptive ban, his campaign explained.

There are about 300 state and local governments with laws, rules, or policies that impede federal efforts to enforce immigration laws. But what exactly does that mean to the average American citizen? Since 2014, about 10,000 criminal aliens who were released because of sanctuary policies were arrested – again – for new crimes. That’s 10,000 preventable crimes. Sanctuary policies make us all less safe.
facts are tough things for liberals.
Okay, Stephen Miller. Look, I'm obviously not going to be convincing you of anything, nor you me, but I'll leave you with this link: http://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2017/aug/03/antonio-villaraigosa/mostly-true-undocumented-immigrants-less-likely-co/ Non-partisan fact checkers find that it's not likely that undocumented immigrants commit crime at a greater rate than U.S. citizens.
You can believe the Center for Immigration Studies all you want, but that doesn't mean that they don't have an agenda... and again, it doesn't have one iota to do with the Virginia governor's race. This is a federal, not state issue.
I'm done here.

The 2018 elections are going to demoralize democrats. The shutoff at the border and deportations (including self deportations) are secretly loved by many democrats. The President will attach the fear of deportation with illegal voting before the election and we all know illegal voting is encouraged and ignored in many areas. It's going to be very unfortunate for democrats if they continue to encourage illegal immigration.
My son graduates from college in May, without a STEM degree. He already has accepted a job offer with an amazing company and will start at more than I make after teaching for 15 years.
His friends with excellent grades in math, science, and engineering degrees have not gotten any offers. H1-B is a huge problem.
STEM is a lie that American kids see through and they're certainly not going to double-down on a bad idea by going to grad school.
Vote Republican until Democrats put candidates forward that will stop the insane government interference in our free market economy.
No H1B, NO F1/OPT, No H4, No L1, No J-1. and no illegal immigration. Yes to E-Verify and no to Chain Migration.
Every immigration program, Democrats promote and want to expand.
