OP here and never said that the SPLC was trying to avoid taxes. What I did say was why does a non-profit need offshore accounts? Possibly to skirt Federal Law and hide it's sponsors?
Um, the federal law that you skirt with offshore accounts is taxes.
And as has been stated many times before, they have an investment portfolio that includes alternative investments like hedge funds. Many of them run their operations out of other countries, and owning shares in them is not a problem at all.
