Whut? Kids love this. Are you kidding?? We have tried so many frozen foods from Costco and TJs during the pandemic and a lot of the foods have been a hit with the kids.

Lunch nowadays is leftover from dinner or a sandwich. Since we have access to the kitchen even the sandwiches have become sort of elaborate - sauteed onions, grilled tomatoes, sauteed veggies, melted cheese, chopped herbs, nicer luncheon meats ir home grilled/roasted protein, harissa or chutney etc. We are incorporating a small salad every day. No cookies or chips for anyone - except for my teen once or twice a week. No juice or soda. It is green/black tea. milk, smoothie, lassi, fruit shake or water.

^^whoops didn't realize thread was bumped from last year. Even so, to the poster looking down on PBJ kids that is a healthy and plant-based lunch, especially if using whole grain bread. Also some kids are picky eaters. I think it's wrong for you to use this example to teach your kid gratitude!

Why the nastiness? No one is judging you. I have two kids - one who wants different gourmet foods every day and another who eats three things and can't stand for her food to touch each other. I don't bother about what anyone else's kids are eating or getting for lunch.

For the past couple years, my kids packed their own lunches in the morning. They are pretty formulaic, variety seems to be something I aspire to in the meals I plan, but they're happy with the same thing everyday.

Now, every day, I have one kid set up an assembly line and make lunches to deliver to everyone in the family. For the kids, and any adults eating together, they don't put them in bags they are served on plates, but I get a bag dropped off at my desk in my bedroom, mainly because I don't trust my kids to carry a tray up the stairs.

Because we're doing it this way, we're only serving what we'd serve in a lunch box. So, while on the weekends we might have left overs, or breakfast for lunch or something, on the weekdays it's always the same. Everyone gets:

A sandwich (only exception is if there is leftover pizza)

A dairy something (yogurt, cheese stick, glass of milk or kefir (would be thermos at school))

Some kind of fruit

veggies with dip of some sort (ranch, guac, hummus, some kids don't like dip) or vegetable soup in a thermos/bowl

A cookie or small bar of some sort

Water for the non-milk drinkers

Have you seen applegates new pepperoni cheese cracker boxes? They are a wonderful “lunchable” option.

In our regular rotation are:

-ham & cheese sandwich; some combo of cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce; fruit; drinkable yogurt
-scrambled eggs in a thermos; tomatoes & cucumbers; fruit; toast with butter; drinkable yogurt
-wheat thins with spreadable cheese; turkey pepperoni; pickles and/or olives; fruit & veg

I'm sorry that you feel some type of way about the tone on these threads - but the bitchy remark is coming from the person who has the audacity to think that a free forum with all different type of personalities - anonymous and free at that - has to follow your perceived notions of what is funny or not...or leave. Stop reading into posts what's is simply not there - I don't know ANYONE in real life who would think "see you in the next battle round" as being "bitchy" so rest assured - we don't travel in the same circles. And if YOU don't like the direction this forum is going...follow your own advice.
