PP's post above was misleading and didn't provide complete picture.
How was the PPPs post misleading? They gave the same info you provide in the link you posted for Rmib. Also if you notice the poster who posted stats for Blair SMAC rmib, poolesville HS and Whitman HS immediately posted a correction to their post apologizing for omitting the IB magnet designation for Richard Montgomery i.e. They did not intend to give the impression that their stats were for the entire high school

This is an inane discussion. The accomplishments cited to make Blair look good relate to the magnet. The magnet is filled with Asian kids whose parents work at local labs. Tke them out and Blair is Kennedy or Springbrook.

Exceptional Asians make the schools exceptional be it - TJ, Blair, RM, or Poolsville. Even average Asians in sufficient numbers will make the schools stats look pretty good.

I think that there's a whole lot of room between "slacker kids" -- which means what, exactly, when you're talking about a five-year-old or ten-year-old? -- and the idea that a child should do things not as ends in themselves (for example, the child enjoys them, or the child acquires useful skills), but as means to the end of getting into college. Life is long, and success and happiness are not synonyms.
Totally agree. God help you if you're sending the message to a 6-year old that she's a "slacker." And is it really all that helpful to set expectations that every activity has to have a payoff down the road? I know plenty of successful friends who make a ton of money at big law firms, live in great homes, with a fat 401k ...and they're 15 years from retirement and miserable. Yes - smart, rich, successful people can be extremely happy. But sometimes the "achievement" message leads to slogging through a career you hate because you think it's the right thing to do.

We could always argue that this rating system is meaningless. The reality is that MCPS and the school tout these ratings when it makes them look good. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
Blair is on a downward spiral.
Of course Blair rating would be low.
The methodology is: # of IB/AP taken (not performance) divided by the # of students.
Blair has a population of ~ 2900 students and a very high FARMS rate (where most would not be taking IB/AP tests)
500 to 800 out of 2900 would not give you a good rating.

There is no meaningful rating that can put Blair on top. It is a lower tier school that hides behind the magnet.
The magnet is on a downhill spiral because the Asian immigrants it attracts are no longer the cream of the crop. RM and Poolesville are the sought after schools.
Blair touted its rank on this Index and now it criticizes the ratings it relied on?!! Go Blazers!

SAT scores (I could only find these for the class of 2016 but I doubt they would have changed much in one year):
SAT Reading 750, Math 750 Writing 730
33 NMSF in 2017
Poolesville is harder to compare since it is a whole school magnet and they had 272 students in 12th grade
Class of 2017:
SAT Verbal 678, Math 700 and Writing 676
ACT composite 29
11 National Merit Semifinalists in 2017
and just in case anyone from Whitman wants to join this pissing contest
Whitman with a senior class of around 500 students

They had 10 National Merit Semifinalists in 2017
The data the poster cites is for the magnet. It does not reflect the Blair high school as a whole. So, there is no evidence that Blair is any good. The evidence shows that the Asian immigrants who make the majority of the SMACS program are good at churning out SAT and ACT scores. Put them in a group at any other school and you will get the same numbers. It has nothing to do with Blair.
