Love this! Would be great for the dog to have a home where he is fawned over and loved.

Brush the dog 1-2x a week when you are outside.
Give the dog a shower every other week.
Wipe the floors down with a swiffer 1x per day. It's super fast.

Try that for a few weeks to see if it's better. That's our routine now and the dog hair is under control.

What kind of flooring do you have in your house? It is natural and healthy for a dog to shed. Is it possible that you are just not noticing the fur?

lol she sheds! Just not very much. We have no rug type floors.

Some shedding is norma, but excessive shedding can be avoided. I honestly think I shed more than my border collie.

Did you read the OP? She said she and her child often go visit the dad for weeks on end, leaving the dog with a sitter. Your situation does not sound comparable. Letting the dog go live with a new family would be a kindness for everyone.


I missed the part of where they left the dog with a sitter for weeks on end. Agree that they should look into rehoming the dog.

I think lots of people would love a sweet, mature, laid back lab. What's not to love?

Do you brush the dog or get him groomed. Dogs shed, but unless you are not cleaning, it should not be that bad except for once or twice a year. Get one of those fancy dog brushes that look like a giant loop. Brush the dog at least once a week. It will cutback on the dog hair in your house.
