I'm not the person who posted this, but have the same circumstance. Woman I met at work (different department, far different floor) had the tension thing going for a while. Yes, I know she has probably had umpteen more partners than me (have never asked any woman for a number and never will) and I was not the first guy she ever had a first date romp with, but there is more to a marriage than what happened before the knot was tied. We have kids and are doing fine after 17 years. And to this day, I bring up our first date and what happened and we have a couple of laughs over it.

Those articles you quoted also stated correlation does not mean causation, and gave several explanations such as:
-Virgins/people with low #s tend to be religious, so they don't believe in divorce
-Women with higher numbers know what else is out there and so have higher standards for their partners
-Studies weren't published and peer-reviewed, so they could be BS

But if you want a woman who just sticks around because she doesn't know there's better quality men out there, so you can get away with doing the bare minimum, you do you.

I know from my own experience DH and I had a fantastic relationship until he found out my # (which is higher than average, but about half of his #) and flipped out. Apparently while he was out having fun, I should have been spending my weekends at home knitting. So the only way my # had a negative impact on our marriage is because he is too insecure to handle it. Not my fault.

Guys are always telling women to be less jealous and insecure, maybe they should take their own advice.
