And, no, there was not some additional way to secure the door from the inside.

To me knowledge it's not apart of a hotel chain. At least, it's not anywhere in the hotel logo and no brand names on any of the interior items (No ____ by Fairmont on the notepad or anything)
It's a nice hotel (or so i thought) in a major city, and like I said I am on the 18th floor.
Oh, did you say the 18th floor? A hotel with that many floors has to be nice. Good point.

Pretty much...OP's story doesn't add up.

I'm glad we were present. Always lock up valuables, even in your own luggage with a lock.
They couldn't just call? They actually had to watch you consume this item? The manager would have gotten an earful from me.

She was holding a clipboard.
What the f. So sick of hotels doing this.
You mean that's not the first time? Put the do not disturb placard on the door handle and use the chain lock. Problem solved.
How about- let guests sleep past 8am before barging into their room? Problem solved.
Or you can just do your due diligence and take 2 seconds to slide the latch, which I would do regardless of when I was planning on waking up.
The door didn't have a latch, it had a bolt, which I locked. Thanks for your help in the thread, your input is no longer needed. Take care!
What kind of hotel doesn't have a slide latch? I use the do not disturb sign, I've never been bothered.
Lots of hotels?
All hotels I ever stayed have some sort of slide latch.
