I still think he is in a relationship already. OP shouldn't have canceled her plans for him. She should have suggested next weekend instead.

We are going out tonight! I cancelled my other date, it had turned into more of a "a bunch of my friends are meeting up if you want to meet up with us and your friends" kind of thing anyways and I would rather go out with this guy.
