I am not a black woman and these aren't myths. Do you understand numbers? If there are x number of educated black men and y number of educated black women and x is less than y, plus x is made even less because some men are gay/unemployed/not interested in marriage, then there are going to be many unmarried educated black women. That is what you are seeing.

I think that is changing in the millennia generation. When having this discussion with my niece and nephew, I encouraged my niece, while also giving my nephew disapproval.

Not that they needed it, but I gave her permission to open herself to date me other than Black men. Black men don't have a problem dating and marrying outside their race, but many of these same men become indignant when Black women do. I don't want my niece waiting and waiting and waiting for a hardworking, educated Black man because he is too busy wooing and dining the white and Asian women. My nephew does not have the same dating issues as his sister, so yeah.

I think AA women just don't place the same priority on getting married as other women do. Singleness is very common among AAs of both genders, so they are in the majority in their communities.

If this were a white woman who lived in an area filled with minorities and wanted to hold out for a white man, would you so strongly encourage her to marry a black man rather than suffer the "penalty" of not marrying? Even though she said she was fine with it? Doubt it. You'd be on Zillow find houses she could move in to or telling her how marriage isn't all that great anyway. Check yourselves.

That's exactly what people are talking about. I can't imagine choosing to never get married over marrying a white person. Besides the fact white people are extremely diverse. What about a Scandinavian? A French man? A man from Australia? They are all the same to you?!
I can't imagine being willing to marry anyone just to get married. I want to marry a man of my own race. There are many, many black men worldwide including the nationalties you mentioned.

PP statistician here. It has actually been shown repeatedly that men rate women's attractiveness according to which women they think are likely to find them attractive. With African American women's repulsion for men of other races being well known, this explains much of their low attractiveness scores based on ratings by men.
Here's a cool finding (or at least I think it's cool): When we told men in advance that all the African American women in a given pool were very interested in interracial dating, virtually all of the differences in how men rated African American women versus other women disappeared.
Men are very worried about barking up the wrong tree and being harshly rebuffed.
