No, I don't expect my husband to help. But he plans to anyway, because he's a good guy.

I agree. I paid for my education. But if I'm in a position to help them financially, why shouldn't I? College is much more expensive than when I attended.

No need to worry about paying for college if Hillary wins. She wants TAXPAYERS to pay for everyone's college.

The biological parents will have an existing arrangement to support their biological children, which includes saving for college. If they're not saving for college, that's on them, not you.

My parents were together and had plenty of money and refused to put a dime toward my college education. Their reasoning was word for word identical to your BIL's. Perfectly legal, but it really does screw the kid over because of the financial aid calculations. FAFSA doesn't care if the parents refuse to pay - they take their income into consideration until the kid is 23 no matter what.
