We are family of 4 with 2 kids under 6. We have organic veggie share right now, and buy ~80% organic stuff from Costco and trader joes. We spend about $800 per month and additional $300 per month on eating out.

We do about 800 p/m for two adults and a toddler. We eat breakfast and dinner at home almost every day and pack lunches a couple times per week. We get our meat through a meat CSA that costs $200 per month and get the rest at Costco or Giant. We do organic milk and eggs, some produce. Our biggest $$ drain is probably that we go through tons of berries and other fresh fruits in and out of season.

I don't coupon per se but I pay attention to items that are on sale and try to choose those. We're not wedded to specific brands for most things. When I do use coupons it's usually the ones you get at checkout - those seem to be tailored to what you actually buy.

I'm glad to see other families of our size spending about what we do.

Probably $800 including most toiletries. I primarily shop at Giant and Safeway, with some TJs, Whole Foods, and even Aldi mixed in. We hardly eat meat but do eat lots of fruit and produce. 3 people, including a VERY hungry little boy.

We budget about $250/month for eating out - so $60 each on lunches/coffee, with another $130 left for maybe two casual restaurant trips and takeout 2-3 times. We often exceed this but we are trying. Date night $ would be from a separate budget.

I find that when I cut out Target we save money, because I buy tons of stuff there we don't need with regard to drinks, snacks, and household items.

Thanks for this thread. I thought I spent too much... roughly $500/month for a family of 3. Looks like I'm actually doing well.

Here is my meal plan for the week:

Chicken noodle soup
Calzones
Grilled chicken and asparagus
Tacos with pico and rice
Hotdogs, salad, fries
Crock pot BBQ chicken sliders and carrots
Turkey burgers and baked sweet potatoes

About 150/week on groceries for 2 adults and 2 kids, but we also spend a lot on takeout. So our ultimate food budget is probably about the same as yours.

Probably 1200 a month

Is it an organic ranch? I make ours. It doesn't take any more time than making bread or graham crackers.

An organic ranch with fresh spring cool water that is magically purified by vegan fairies each day. Everyone should have one and I can't understand why people don't pay a few hundred dollars extra a month to do so-I mean work a third job if you must!

God, I adore egg noodles.

We spend around $1500/month for a family of 5 (including occasional takeout like Panera-no real sit down restaurants). It is way too much. I have two tweens who eat as much as my DH. We eat breakfast at home and pack lunches. I am at the grocery store all the time. We go through food so fast. ???

Similar to OP - around $750/mo. We are a family of two adults, two elementary school girls. Our eating out budget per month is $300; alcohol $50/mo.
