I think the older grades did team presentations, but that's because the older kids switch classrooms.
Where was this?

But not a word about curriculum advances, or new technology or what MCPS is doing to better the learning environment for children. Not a word about excellence, acheivement, goals or EDUCATION. All Montco cares about is closing the acheivement gap which is impossible with an exploding immigrant class to the area. We moved here for the schools before curriculum 2.0. No way MCPS keeps its repuation as the best. It is all down hill when the goal for a school system is no longer about actual education and learning for all children but is instead about social justice.
What school was this? We didn't hear any prerecorded message. I think my elementary school is outstanding. When your kids go to college, you will think MCPS schools are the best. Your child will notice this right away.

Really there was a small blurb about inclusiveness and was really just a publicity piece from MCPS highlighting some overall vision of the districts current state and trajectory. Barely caught the inclusiveness component actually. Following the brief video the teacher gave a thorough rundown of what would be covered throughout the year, parents asked questions, etc. Not sure this deserved an entire thread....
because some people find fault with every little thing with mcps, and like to make a huge stink about it.
That's right.
Its sad and a little pathetic.
New poster here. I find people like you disturbing. WE pay for the schools. It is a democracy. People can complain about and hope to do things about certain things they don't like with their school and the school district. Have you ever seen the actual school budget? Have you been to county PTA meetings? School PTA meetings? County board meetings? Have you seen what $$ is wasted on? What things the county takes seriously and what it does not? It is politics. It is like big pharm. You are doing exactly what they want you to do - trying to minimize someone's voice - by being a bully and demeaning the situation into "everyone should just shrug and move on." If someone feels strongly about something, you don't have to say they are pathetic or why make a stink, or why bother. Would you say the same thing to your kids?
Well put, PP. That is what happened with the school projections. We all turned a blind eye and laughed at Bruce Crespell's projections of slow growth/no growth. Look at your school's projections over the past few years. Ever wonder HOW the population growth could slow or decrease, with all the planned development? Well, we were just supposed to trust MoCo. Well, did you know that any forecast that showed the ACTUAL growth we've experienced would have resulted in a building moratorium? God forbid, developers are the biggest contributors to the MoCo politicians. I hope to God someone from a reputalbe media organization is reading this.

Yes I'm an immigrant, a very high achieving one and my kids are too. RACIST (to the original poster).
OP here. That word has absolutely lost it's meaning and does not hurt me one bit. It says way more about you that you would resort low ball name calling. My best friends are black, asian hispanic. A dinner party at my house looks like the UN. Guess what? They also wwant the public schools to focus on a quality education for the children, acheivement, excellence. But they aren't small minded like you.
You actually said "my best friends are black" well unfortunately as a result, you slot neatly into the definition of a "racist". I thought people stopped saying those kind of idiotic things in the 1980s. You're showing your age and / or total lack of integration into today's society.
Lol, I was accused of being racist. How else do you rebut such a slanderous accusation? It is the word extremist like you use to shut down any conversation of which they don't approve. In this case, the quality of Montco schools which is on the decline because it is busting at the seams and it is apparent why to everyone.
There needs to be more discussion about how Montcoo is going to justify the tax increase for the schools. The Super needs to lay out how he plans on improving them for everyone, not just preferred groups and not by lowering the bar with grade inflation which is all we have heard about so far. Hello, how about smaller class sizes, more teachers, teachers aides, textbooks, building more schools? Give us some ideas on how the additional money is going to be used instead of just a condescending lecture. A brief overview on his plans would have been nice. But his omission of these things speaks volumes about where Montco is headed and I am growing more and more certain my kids won't be along for that ride.
And FTR, I cherish my friends of all colors and I am fortunate to have them and there is nothing you could ever say that would diminish my gratitude or affection for them, including calling me the R word. That word means nothing to me or anyone else when you hurl it around so carelessly.
Libel, not slander....it was written

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This is what Democratic voters wanted and they voted for in this County. They wanted sanctuary city, well how was that going to be accommodated? Bring in the immigrants, bring in the refugees, keep them coming, but, eventually the tax base shrinks and the schools as a whole suffer. Sadly the social experiment failed and is probably not reversible at this point. Private school here I come.
OP here. I came home, looked at my partner and said I give up, no more public schools unless we want our kids brainwashed and illiterate because public schools aren't about learning and education anymore. Looking at privates for next year too. So sad. We want a public school experience for our kids, but not willing to risk their futures over it. And the class was exploding. 28 kids, one teacher and for at least half the class, English is not their first language. No way the teacher has time to give so many needy students what they need.
