My oldest kid prefers Coke, milk or water to juice and a lot of places do not have 2% milk...sometimes on weekends we will let her have a Coke with lunch. Never after 3 pm. We are trying not to fetishize junk food and turn the kids into health food POWs who overdo it when we aren't around to enforce the "policies."

Zero soda. We (parents) don't drink it either. Just don't see a need to introduce it. I wouldn't freak out if they discovered it at a birthday party or friend's house though.

They get plenty of sugar and chemicals elsewhere, since I'm not crazy about limiting dessert, snacks, etc as long as they also eat the healthy food I provide.

Once in a while treat for our 7-year-old. Ginger ale, sprite or root beer only. I try to avoid HFCS and caffeine. We don't keep soda in the house so it's no big deal for him to have a small one once in a while. He would prefer Gatorade as a treat, so he gets that more often.

Same.

We don't "do juice" at home - sugary drinks are a treat. Juice is "soda in a sippy cup" I never understood how parents let their kids drink juice on a daily basis but think soda is like giving beer.

My kids 6 8 and 9 have a Shirley temple sometimes when we go out to dinner. We eat out every weekend but they probably have the S.T twice a month? We do nt drink soda so never have it at the house.

Only on special occasions or at a b-day party where it's served. Only my ODS will drink it (he's 10) and he only sips. The 7 y/o hates the carbonation.

No sodas in our house and we have never made it an option when out to eat- and we go out often. Lemonade is a treat. Water and milk are the norm.

What restaurants don't serve water?

My kids hate it so thank goodness I haven't had to think much about it. We order water in restaurants and they drink water or milk at home. They have juice at parties.

We don't drink it as a rule. Child tried it once and thought it horrible.
