Sorry someone cheated on you, that sucks and is deeply wrong. But, please don't judge all us 40s women with kids. Believe me we get so much judgement from everyone -- you think we must have cheated on our ex, other people think our ex left us because we didn't fulfill them sexually or we were bitches or we let ourselves go or whatever....
But, really, some of us were cheated upon, and as you know, there's never a good reason for that and it really destroys your life.
Treat others like you would want to be treated. I think you'll be sure to find someone great that way.

OP here. I finally did it! He wasn't in a rush to jump in the sack, but thanks to the he's just horny and thought you were easy poster for playing. He prefers older women and exclusive relationships and yes, he is totally cute, strong, fit, and the sex was worth the wait, although there are a few things I need to teach him. He's actually late 20s - same age as my XH was when we got married. He's smart and fun to talk to, too. I know it won't be a forever thing but it is a good time right now. A friend of mine had a one-year relationship with a 25 year old when she was 45, so maybe it will last for a bit until I get over my recent round of "online dating sucks," which may take some time. Nice to have met someone IRL, even though it won't lead to someone for the rest of my life.

PP makes a good point. I have 38 yr old that I "visit" with. He is cute as a button, an incredible a$$ and shoulders and arms like Hercules. We get along famously but no matter how much lipstick you put on the pig he is still only 38. He has a kid from previous relationship and divorced from very short marriage. He only serves one purpose and we are both fine with that.
I had this, and after about two months it only made me feel shallow and highlighted how off course my life had become. Kudos to you that you can subsist with this time of shallow relationship. I couldn't do it.
It isn't shallow. We get a long really well and enjoy each others company. Neither of us have delusions that this is going to go on long term or that we will marry. He would like to find SHM and that aint what I do. I make like 3X what he does and he enjoys the benefits of my homes and the life I get to lead. Shallow would be booty calls and dismissing him till I call him again. We are in constant contact and other than the one thing we really enjoy doing, we do tons of other stuff and with his child.

People bring her up as an example all the time, but she has had a lot of work done! Very natural-looking, well-done work but still...most people can't afford to do that. But I do know a lot of real-world women who look great as they age.

My guess is that she has deep relationships with her girlfriends. So she's not subsisting with shallow relationships. She has all the depth she needs, and she and the guy use each other for sex. Doesn't sound like subsistence at all. It sounds like abundance!
