Sure. What do I care if my preschooler looks "tacky" - maybe I wouldn't do it the day before a big family event like a wedding, but just some random Saturday? Who cares?

My kids (DS5, DD4) asked about it the other day, so I sat them down and painted their toenails (figured it'd last longer). They LOVED it, and honestly, it was good practice in sitting still until it dried! I would do it with any kid I could trust to sit still for the 15 mins it takes to dry, so 3 sounds totally fine. Two probably not, but that's just cause I don't want nail polish smears on my carpet.

It is fine IMO. I don't really do my nails so I'd never exposed my dds to nail painting as a fun thing to do. But then by the time she was 6-7 my younger dd became interested in nails from friends- she would use her brother (who is 5 years younger) as her practice model. He is a buzz cut, conventionally masculine boy in most respects- but who cares about painted nails. He is 6 now and no longer lets her paint his nails, but now she is good enough to practice on me

Oh wow. I think it’s so cute to paint my toddlers nails. I just don’t have the time usually. My DDs always have painted nails and toes for vacations. Oldest girl is 9

Yes, but we use a French brand that is nontoxic and rinses off with water. It barely lasts a day with handwashing and playing, but allows her the joy of having her nails painted temporarily.

You can also buy nail decal stickers from piggy paint or other brands. It's another quick thing that comes off easily and is clearly for little kids (the styles in the kids size are very clearly just for kids.

This is what we use- it washes off the same night. I could care less if my kid wears nontoxic washable pink nail polish.
