Ladies, you got shafted. It’s NOT normal to care for a newborn without any help. In the rest of the world, mom or MIL or sisters or aunts or all of the above come live with you and help during this crucial time. They cook and clean for you. Or the hire a nurse for you, or they do both.
It’s sad that you didn’t have that. Not making fun, I mean that seriously.
Then you HIRE a night nurse? Why shouldn't you take care of your own baby? If you can't then you should have thought about this prior to getting pregnant!

I tried searching the archives, but was unsuccessful in finding a helpful thread I recall from a few months ago. Someone posted a night nanny website and I think they charged less than $20/hr. Anyone remember this company? I'd love to give them a call!
Found it!
http://www.tiredmomshelper.com/services.html
Has anyone used this company and hAve any feedback? $17/hr is so much less than the others out there- if it's reputable, this would be amazing
You get what you pay for and $17.00/hr gets you the bottom of the pile

In Chinese culture a souped up version of a night Nanny called a confinement Nanny takes care of the mother for a month, watching the baby at night and only bringing in the baby to breastfeed and cooking during the day. All the mother has to do is rest. Same in Mexican culture. The Poster saying mothers are spoilt and entitled is off her rocker.
