Aaaaaand this is why no one introduces themselves. You never know what you're going to get suckered into. Just be courteous but distant, like everyone else is with you.

A small updated - she introduced herself to me, and I got all excited - it turns out she's some crazy senior Mary Kay rep, obviously looking for new people for her "team".

We threw a block party when our new neighbors moved in so they could meet everyone. That's not really the norm in our neighborhood but people seemed to have a great time. It has since turned into an annual tradition!
