Do you mean Bethesda ain't Chevy Chase? Bethesda ain't Potomac?

No place is Chevy Chase and ask any real estate agent, Bethesda is way more of a draw than Potomac. Beside your analogy is plain stupid. Talk to a guy who lives in Burleith or Glover Park and he will either tell you he live in or by Georgetown depending on what he thinks you know or might visit. You named three distict places that people aspire to.

Well, in Kensington they have 'Chevy Chase View' which means they can see Chevy Chase from their houses - whoopdedoo.
So, maybe 20814 should be 'Bethesda View'. Sound good?

And today's residents of Chevy Chase View should be ridiculed for daring to live in a neighborhood that was named 100 years ago.

Bless your little heart.

Being pretentious social climbers isn't exclusive to the 21st-century, you're not grandfathered out of eye rolls.

Wtf? Using a by now pretty standard name means you're a "pretentious social climber"? Give me a break. Sorry you're so insecure, "real" Chevy Chase person. Don't worry -- no one will confuse you with the fake Chevy Chase View people! You're too much of a dick to be from Chevy Chase View.

Outside the beltway. No one cares.

If not, there is no stigma.

People who live in the neighborhoods OP is talking about don't say they live in north Bethesda. They say "Bethesda near NIH" or "Ashburton" or "Parkwood."

Exactly. Or Bethesda near Suburban. Or we live in the Wyngate neighborhood.

1) I live in the area the OP is describing. 20814 zip code. I never knew there was a stigma, like the OP describes. Kind of laughable...

2) My favorite thing of this whole north bethesda/20852 mess is the (pretentious) whole foods rockville located in the North Bethesda Market complex on rockville pike (across from while flint). branding problem anyone? It is good for a laugh any time.
