Having dealt with my MIL, I can say people like this do exist. At some point, she observed her son was unhappy, and had no idea why, but blamed me, who happens to be overweight. In her opinion, beauty is the most important thing a woman has to offer a man. (Along with subservience to him and the MIL.) She took it upon herself to find him a "better" woman.

The problem is that the op is projecting and sssuming that her relative is unhappy due to his wife's weight gain. And OP assumes they will divorce over the weight gain and if they do she'd get half of the house. Because fat people don't deserve to be married or get an even split of property in a divorce. Obvious solution is to divorce and make the trophy wife sign a prenup stating how much weight she was allowed to gain. /sarcasm

I pretty much never say "Mind your own business" on this board, but definitely in this case that's my response: MYOB. Unless one of them reaches out to you, that's not the kind of thing you should say anything about.

I feel like you are oddly obsessed with his happiness and sexual preferences..I wouldn't even put two and two together to think someone was unhappy because of a spouses weight gain...you're kinda creeping me out OP.
