Our school will not give you a packet beforehand and kids are expected to have the work completed when they return or take no grade. Anticipated tests are taken before they leave on on the first day back. I think it's wrong to expect a teacher to project the class pace and arrange special work to allow for someone's vacation. If I took my kids out for any reason I would not ask for any accommodations.

Nope, I don't think it's high end. I think it's fun for kids. But it's my experience that anti-disney folks call into two camps: those who can't afford a nice trip to disney, and snobby poseurs who are philosophically opposed to fun.

You will not get in any sort of trouble for travel. Everyone seems to travel at our school. It's just not a big deal.
