So there's at least an honors science teacher and a Chinese teacher missing? Maybe they need another change.org petition. How is this even possible? I thought they had a mandatory 180 days of school.

I would imagine Wilson isn't the only DCPS school with missing teachers and gaps. Things seem to be getting extra scrutiny this year with a new principal.

That's no way to run a class! My child's honors science class at Wilson is also missing a teacher. The sub let them have a free period each class for the whole week! Very much hoping that the teacher turns up this week.

Why does Wilson have so many holes in its staff?! Sorry to be a conspiracy theorist but could it be because the school is over-enrolled and DCPS is hoping that by dragging its feet on hires it will cause some families to leave in disgust, creating some attrition?

The paper staff should work hard to examine some controversial issues in their next issue so we can see if the principal is serious about not censoring. Talk about the lack of teachers in place the first week of school, the class schedule debacle, the cafeteria contract, the size of the freshman class, etc.

whoa!!!! Are these all from feeder schools? This is not sustainable, by any means, if these figures are correct. I don't get the numbers, though. 500 from Deal, maybe, but fewer than 100 each from Hardy and Oyster-Adams, which are the only other feeders...A few students, 80 or so from those feeders may have chosen SWWHS, Banneker, Ellington, or private, so where are all these kids coming from?

I am sure you'll see the list eventually....

If that 900 number is correct, someone better double check the enrollment paper work from over the summer. Lots of "favors" can slip in when no one is watching the registrar and office staff. It has happened during the transitions when no one is in charge for too long.

Goofy question...how can you see a list of petition signers? I tried to sign the position from my phone over the weekend, but I'm not sure I did it correctly and before I sign twice mistakenly, I would like to look at the list to see if my name's on there. Help?

what is the right number freshmen? If not 900.

Hardy had 386 kids, so maybe 130 grads, OA had 650 spread over 10 grades, so maybe 60 grads?

I just looked at Deal's website, it said 1312 enrolled last year, so it's more like 450 kids moving into 9th grade.
