Derrick attended OSU for four years and lived on his own in Nepal after that. He has more real life experience than Ben.

I was wondering this too, about Jill and Janna's (? Jessa?) husbands. When they're at home are they like normal people/men? Or is it always like the Bible and being super pure and soft spoken. Are they ever like "what the hell is going on with your bro!?"

I have no hope for Ben. He's young, seems pretty airy, and comes from a lame family. But the other one, Derek (?), seems somewhat sane. He's lived on his own in Nepal and has now moved with his wife away from that family (YAY!). He might be the one to be a little more real with all this stuff that's coming up.

In this situation I would expect a husband to confirm his his wife that her brother is not ever to be alone with his kids, etc. Do they have these honest talks or is everything hush hush lets pray about it?

I agree about Jill's husband Derrick, he wasn't raised in the gothard cult and had for all we've seen a normal upbringing. I think that is why he and Jill got the hell out of dodge after the molestation scandal came to light.


Agreed on the husbands. I do think Ben is super conservative but probably not anymore so than the standard southern baptists I grew up with. I also think he went to a real college so he has had more exposure to the world. Derrick seems nice enough and committed to helping the poor etc. And smart enough to move away!! Damn, I want Jinger to make a break for it. Didn't she want to go to college but her dad said no? And Jana is like 24 and not married. Those two need their own reality show about breaking free!

I mentioned Ben because he is really outspoken and "insiders" on freejinger have claimed that he hated Josh from the beginning, before any of this came to light.

I'm guessing it's very hush hush and pray about it. Trust that God will keep the kids safe. I don't know if any of them are capable of facing the reality.
