I'm not from Chicago but visit the area often with DH. He likes River Forest. The neighborhoods feed into Oak Park River Forest High School and there is an El station.

I don't get the Cabrini-Green reference.

We like neighborhoods with sidewalks, trees, prefer older homes although new homes are fine but very much against tract homes, cul-de-sac-y type subdivisions.


No more of a pressure cooker environment than in Arlington. It's just that unlike Virginia, the state schools in IL suck.
