My 12 yr old has not had her period yet and I hope it's not coming anytime soon. She is 5'8" so I wonder where she will end up. I wish I could remember when I got mine or how much more I grew. I'm 45 and also 5'8". I may have shrunk a bit because 12yr old DD appears taller than me. I have no idea how long I have been this height.

My daughter was about 5’5 when she got her period, she is now 5’10. She is a great height right now, I hope this is it and she stops growing.

Who are you people who are so fixated on your DD's height? Is she tall enough to drive a car and reach the glasses in the cupboard? If so, who the hell cares what height she is?

Also, are people aware that the average height for women in the US is:

Black women: 5'4"
Hispanic/ Latina: 5'1.5
Asian: 5'1.5
White: 5'3.5"

A 5'3" American woman is not "short."

That's like saying the average size American woman is a size 12-14. That's all well in good but average means nothing. It's about your circle. In my circle, the average size woman is a size 6 and the average height is about 5'7+

Because height is a sign of attractiveness in our visual focused culture. For girls I think 5'6 - 5'7 is the sweet spot.

Has your DD always been in the 25th percentile for height and weight? Did she drop suddenly at some point? I would hope if there seemed to be a growth issue, your pediatrician would have already been aware of it before now. But the average age of growth in a girl starting menses at an average age (not early, not late) is 3". Your DD is a little on the early side (average in the US is just under 12 1/2 years of age) so she may get an extra inch.

But if you and DH are both taller than average, and your DD is in the 25th percentile, I would want to rule out any medical issues, e.g., celiac, etc.

DD got her period right before she turned 12 - height 5ft 3 inches. Now at 14.5, she is 5 ft 7 inches.
