I don’t quite agree with describing Father Hathaway as money grubbing. However, he does seem to overly enjoy squeezing the last cent from each of us. The only real thing that bothers me is that he doesn’t seem overly kind which is what I would rather have in a priest versus an expert fund raiser. As for father Noah, I agree that it is a lapse in Christian judgment to arbitrarily not wear a mask in a school of vulnerable young adults who are looking at his every action for leadership. Probably poor judgment on his part but I am no judge. Even the repairmen at the dealership I went to yesterday were wearing masks. However, Father Noah is only guilty of being tone deaf at best and a poor example of a priest and leader at worst. But again, human being do not serve as judge. Our Lord and Savior will ultimately judge our behavior.

Even though Father Noah is a poor example to high school kids at BI, he makes a great political statement by unilaterally deciding to not wear a face covering in the middle of a pandemic without the advice of medical professionals. He's a poor excuse for a leader. Just one student's opinion.

Agree! Father Hathaway is the antithesis of holy, as far as I'm concerned. and he's a money grubber. To shame families for not giving to the new school during a pandemic is incomprehensible. I don't know anyone who actually likes him.

I'm ok with starting a conversation. However, unilaterally deciding not to wear a mask in front of students, many of whom are wearing masks is just poor leadership by a religious Shepard. I don't know why you are not understanding...coming back with a comment about CBS. Does CBS run BI or work with parents to allay concerns. We are not at the stage of just completely taking off masks. Is it worth the conversation, sure. This conversation should be held at a higher level than the priest at BI just not wearing a mask. We are talking about a so-called leader who is modeling appropriate behavior for young men and women. Sure, antivaxers and antimaskers are ready to go cold turkey and throw all of the COVID mitigation measures out the window because they are insane and don't want to be members of a civilized society who adheres to a social contract of the greater good. You are totally missing the point...this is about leadership and arrogance. What does his actions show to the more than half of the school who wears masks. Unfortunately, his leadership and actions are held to a higher standard. Father N should be teaching kids to be SELFLESS even when they may disagree. Let the health professionals be part of this conversation when unmasking.

I was just listening to a segment on cbs news this morning and it was the opinion of the doctor they were interviewing that it is time to start the discussion on if we need to keep the mitigations such as masks and restrictions on gatherings in place or if it is time to move away from them. There are other doctors and scientists saying the same. You can check regular news sites for some other articles. It has nothing to do with being anti-vaxx. Remember that mask restrictions were dropped when things leveled off last year around this time. The we went back to masks when Delta came around so maybe that is just how it goes. Sometimes masks are needed, sometimes they aren't.
