I'm a real estate agent and wood countertops around a sink usually sustain water damage which naturally detracts from the overall look. They can be lovely but don't wear as well as other materials such as stone, manufactured stone or stainless steel.
Marble countertops are another example of something that looks amazing on Pinterest but doesn't translate well to real life usage.
