Yes, eaton parent here. Jade Brawley is an outstanding individual. Professional, top notch educator, kind, smart, experienced, great sense of humor, loves her students, staff seemed to love her. You name it, she has it. She helped our school when our principal had an extended medical leave this year.
The sheperd community is very lucky.

PP, actually, in the case of Takoma and West they both wanted the new positions and applied for it. They're going to be principal mentors to new principals.

Same with Takoma's principal. I agree with a PP that it seems they're tapping a few principals to do the jobs of several other staffers who had jobs that were just cut this Spring. It's unfortunate for the schools who have to choose a new principal in such a chaotic hurry.

I checked with Central Office. The fellowship lasts 30 months because her first year as principal will be part of the fellowship. The Patterson fellows apparently receive continued mentoring and training during the first year as principal.

Reassignments are budget cuts... As you know many get caught-up in the foolery that people are cut from positions but the actual position is not lost. So to reassign a principal to position that was once manned by 4-lower level employees...gives that perfect illusion that you have cut your personnel-staffing needs. Do more with more is the battle cry... As you know the council will say you need to cut your central office staff but here's more money to run efficiently and in turn DCPS hires people at enormous salaries. Vicious cycle but it is a democracy...the fit of the fittest.

I found two sources that say the Patterson Fellowship is 18 months, not 30 months. Seems someone didn't check Kaya's letter for errors. :/

But you are correct. Banneker students could've seen the need for some serious IMPACT trouble shooting before the ink on the proposal was dry. But in their zeal to be first in the nation to come up with a unique teacher evaluation system that tied student achievement to teacher effectiveness, (stop! Reread that part to truly appreciate how asinine it is) they rushed out what we have now. I still believe hearts were in the right place but sheesh!

It's union busting. So they love it. What don't you get? Toss out pensions and the system floats on the clouds.
