Then why bother having separate changing rooms at all for men and women? Why arent men and wonen in the same changing room of no one cares?-. I think the transexual lady interviewed had the right idea. In an effort to be politically correct, many are not thinking this through. A real solution to this would be having transgender changing rooms. Let the gym put their money where their mouth is. Even rhe transgender lady interviewed had a better appreciation of the situation.
Is the purpose of separate changing rooms for men and women so that men don't have to see female genitalia and women don't have to see male genitalia? Really?
And you think that the solution is to have four changing rooms -- cisgender men, cisgender women, transgender men (who are men), transgender women (who are women)?

If a business wants to invest in a third private changing area, more power to them, but imposing on the vast majority of conforming population is bullshit PC gone amok.
How often are you checking out the genitals of people in the bathroom or locker room? Do you always look at people's crotches? Gross.
My assumption is that anyone going to a gym is there with the sole intent to work-out. When they are in the locker room, I assume they are there to change their clothes. If someone wants to look at other's genitalia, there are plenty of other ways and places to do that.

Women's locker rooms are for people of female sex. A person with a penis does not belong in a women's changing area. I can not believe how this new political correctness all of a sudden trumps everybody elses rights. There need to be neutral/family changing rooms to address this issue. Until then transgender people can at least cover their genitals in opposite sex changing areas. That is not too much to ask. Women will welcome them and at the same time those women will not be confronted with something they should be safe from in women's locker rooms.
The argument of "Why do you look?" is invalid. Males do not belong in female changing rooms. There is nothing more to it than that. I am female. I go to the women's changing rooms because I do not want to change together with men. For what reason does not even matter. The solution to this is not for all women of the world to get used to having to see naked men in their changing rooms. The solution is for EVERYONE to stick to their rights which must lead to sex/gender neutral changing areas which will allow EVERYONE to chose. The only thing you people telling everyone to just not look and deal are doing is giving companies a reason not to accommodate the growing minority of transgender people...

Gender and sex used to be the same thing...they are not anymore these days which makes this difficult. Male used to mean both male gender and male sex. Nowadays the division needs to be made clearer. As long as someone is of a certain sex, that someone needs to use the appropriate changing rooms. Again, family or neutral changing rooms are the solution here. We had them always and everywhere where I grew up and I have always been confused as to why they barely exist in the US. Or female, male and then single stalls for people who don't want to be confronted by other people's sexuality in whatever way. But just male and female and then mixing in all the new classification is just not ever going to work. Because somebody's right will always get trampled and that's not okay.
One's sexuality is different from one's genitalia.
Here's a good, non-technical summary of why sex, gender, and sexuality are complicated -- and always have been complicated, even if we used to fool ourselves into thinking they were simple.

Men's locker rooms are for people of the male gender. Women's locker rooms are for people of the female gender.
Also, it seems to me that you think gender-segregated locker rooms exist so that women can be safe from seeing male genitalia. Is that correct?
