Because I don't know you I'll tell you that DH's Porsche has nothing to do with a crisis but more a huge payout from a business venture that kept him busy for 15 years. So I'd say well-deserved and way better than an affair.

I never got the appeal of Hummers. I drove a Humvee in the service, and while they're good for off road, they're rather punishing to drive.

My liberal husband spent 100k on his Porsche. I pail less than half of that for my Hummer. That ability to to cross 2 feet of water comes in handy when the roads flood in my area and back home.

My money, my decision. Whats not altruistic? Assuming you can tell others how to spend their own money.

There is a guy in our neighborhood who will zoom up behind everyone in his Porsche and tailgate them. It's like he's saying, "Get your stupid minivan off the road so I can pass and do my errands, which are clearly much more important than yours!" I love seeing him fume that he has to actually go the speed limit.

In 2014 it was reported that Range Rovers could be opened and started using hand-held equipment readily available from eBay. High levels of theft rendered Range Rovers not insurable.

Low resale value after warranty and reliability issues are common complaints.

Yes! The converse is any econo brand (Kia, Hyundai, old Honda) that's repainted and tricked out with every after market gewgaw available to make it kind of sort of resemble a luxury or racing car.

I have never been stuck in the snow in my entire 40 years of life in the DC area, so I am not anticipating that happening anything soon. Thank God you have that Hummer in case it does happen one day.

Mini doesn't seem like a douche bag car to me at all. Owners seem pretty mellow. It's the people who are trying to impress others with their expensive cars. The worst is the parents who buy RR's and such for their newly driving 16 year olds. I see that in MoCo and DC (never really go into Virginia).
