OP, I get it, because I didn't have an engagement ring either. Years later, I bought one for myself - didn't involve DH, just informed him. It is a three-stone ring, diamond in the center, emeralds on each side. I love it.

I think you should just buy yourself a ring of whatever kind you want. Don't pre-set the price - just go jewelry-shopping and choose what you like and can afford. Done and done.

You aren't asking for an engagement ring. You are already married. Asking for a diamond ring is not the same thing.
