Everything wrong with this country summarized in one dcum post.

This is ridicules. Not sure if OP was a troll or not, but if they aren't, who cares if they can afford to spend this much on a car for their kid?

+1. I lived in a town where there was no public transportation. All my friends had their own cars, and no one had anything other than a small fender-bender. My parents were thrilled when I could drive and they didn't have to drive me around to all my activities.

NOT appropriate for young drivers. Way cool, but just not safe. I love the look, but really not safe.

wow. clearly I will have little advice to give, since that is one expensive car.

that said.... why not wait until your kid has had a chance to total it before buying a pricey one. Buy something safe and used and then replace before college once driving skills are better?

My DS will have access to a car when he's 16- I take him to sports practices almost every night of the week and am ready for a break. We will buy another car when he does get his license, but it will be for getting himself to various sports fields. He will also be allowed to use it to get to his job (if he gets one and can't walk/metro to it). He will have to ask us to use it for other instances.

A 16 year old has no business owning their own car. They have no business having a license either, but that's a different story. They are definitely not mature and responsible enough to own their own car. That's number two.

That sounds like a bunch of #2 to me.

My oldest child is 14 (will turn 15 in March) so we haven't bought a child a car yet. Currently, the plan is that dh will get a new car and our son will get use of his old car (2010 Jeep Wrangler.)

Um none. Turning 16 does not mean we bestow upon our kids a car. They buy their own
