I have heard - again and again - from Jewish friends who travel there yearly and who send their children there that Israel is safe. What parent would spend half a year's worth of tuition to send his/her graduating senior off to a war zone if Israel were not safe?

Or that Egypt, which has committee enormous human rights abuses, was the second largest recipient of US $$ after Israel? What does one thing have to do with the other?

This is very naive about history. Arab nationalism (and Turkish nationalism) is becoming and would have become Muslim nationalism even if Zionism never existed.
