I'm not going to bash you, OP. I totally get that sometimes we have to put up with a lot to keep the peace in a family. I would never pull a total bitchfest and demand that my husband sit out or make waves at a large family event simply because it doesn't suit my inner princess. Clearly others here don't have the same opinion and are much more vocal in making demands and refusing to compromise or bear any kind of inconvenience. Good luck and make the best of it.
