Yes, I am sure all the problems in the marriage are her fault ... With this dude who had been having an affair since before they were married! He must be a real peach. That's the sad part about this whole story - OP must see him as some sort of amazing older man, when he is really just a skeevy ass. Maybe she will figure it out.

But, seriously, I don't get it. SAHM who doesn't love the DH and is only staying for their own lifestyle (excluding kids) would = prostitute to me (i.e. giving sex for money). SAHM who doesn't love DH and is staying for the good of the kids is sacrificing, not gaining (so not prostitute).

Nothing is scary about supporting myself. This relationship started while I was in college and working full time just hasn't happened. I am sure at some point this relationship will come to an end. I am not worried about finding a job.

I think they're so glad I'm not asking them for anything, that they don't feel the need to know details. They are not the helicopter types. When I go home to visit they ask "How is everything going?" and when I reply "Great!" they nod and move on.
