It's where the Loews movie theater is now, enhance was one of the side numbered streets.


I think the movie theater was there back then - but had a different name? This was a street or two over - on 30th.

Movie theater is now where the Bayou was then. Music City was over between Thomas Jefferson and 30th, in that funny mall-like building on the canal. That was a great bar!

The biggest loss is the Bayou. I moved away for 8 years and when I moved back it was gone. I always wondered about how that happened - did the community try to save it? It seems the kind of closing that would have caused a big revolt.....

So many (blurry, fuzzy) memories here!

My 20-year GW reunion is coming up and a bunch of us have decided that a bar crawl is in order. We'll be visiting the places that are still around and a few that are under new management. My tentative lineup is: Black Rooster, Rumors, Mighty Pint (former Madhatter), Sign of the Whale, Mackey's (formerly Samantha's), Exchange and Bottom Line. Tonic@Quigleys may get a visit too.

I miss seeing reggae and industrial shows at the Roxy, dancing at Chicago's (now Buffalo Billiards) and Anastasia (now Gtown Banana Republic), 3rd Edition, Pall Mall, the DoMe and Odds. (18th amendment closed right before I got to town.) I actually prefer the new 9:30 club to the old one, but I miss 15 minutes. And Tracks. Miss Tracks so much.
