The Marvelous Toy, by Tom Paxton? I actually think it's a very sweet song, sort of the opposite of Cat's in the Cradle - I do react emotionally to it, but more happy than sad. Kid gets a magical little toy from his Dad, loves it his entire life, and eventually gives it to his own son. We have a picture book version of this song, really fun to read with the kids. "It went

Tom Paxton has several tearjerkers, though. Check out The Bravest, about firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11 - told from the point of view of someone who was saved by them. "Now every time I try to sleep, I'm haunted by the sound of firemen pounding up the stairs while we were running down". Sends chills down my back every time I hear it.
