I'm 33, and have been trying for almost 20 years to find a color of lipstick that actually looks good on me. I can't do it. Not sure if it's my skin tone/hair color combo or what, but even when I go to a make-up counter and ask them to find me a shade, we're never satisfied with the results. I love all the fun, bright colors that have popped up in the last five years, and lots of women my age and younger where lipstick at work (professional attire). Maybe someday I'll find that perfect shade...

I used to wear it all the time, but my DH complained because he doesn't like the feel. So I stopped for a long time. Last week I found a tube in my desk and put it on, and got several comments from coworkers (men and women) about how nice I looked. I'm guessing I look more tired without it, so I'm going to start wearing it again, just not at home.

Are you loving Lupita Nyongo's lipsticks? That woman can wear the hell out of makeup.
Her lipstick sometimes look nice, but sometimes she wears lipstick that is too bright or too pale for her complexion. I think she should grow her hair out though.

It grows, it just takes more time to manage than the hair of people of non-African descent. You can wear an afro (large or small), braid it, twist it and take the twist out to achieve a particular look, wear dreadlocks, straighten it, etc. One can also wear a weave or a wig. Any style is a lot of work however for most AA women, we don't have wash and wear hair, that is why some cut it short like LN. She is an up and coming movie star, so she can afford to have someone maintain her hair at this point.
AA woman here. My hair is professionally treated and under perfect conditions, usually only gets to a certain length before it starts breaking. Even in braids and other protective styles, my hair reaches a certain length and then it will not grow anymore.
OMG! Maybe she likes her hair short and natural ??? How about it she does have a hair stylist?!
Are u Trimble to say that short and natural = cannot afford to have it professionally maintained?
Do you realize this woman is a Yale graduate that comes from a WEALTHY well regarded family???

I have had long hair and short hair! I know lots of black women with long hair.
Like everyone else we have to take care of our hair. Depending on Your natural texture and curl pattern, there are certain things you may have to do to best maintain your hairs health.
